Do you download from Internet a lot? If so, I recommend you to choose a faster broadband. As we mentioned in our Guide of Broadband, the speed is one of the most important factors to be considered when you choose a broadband deal. So you can find the speed number in every deal description.

Most of the deals only specify one speed – download speed, which is usually display as default“speed” in broadband specification. Download speed is the speed that the data transfers from web site to your computer. Though there is another speed - upload speed. To most of us, downloading is more important than uploading. Don't you think so? Download speed affects most of our online activities, such as viewing web pages (though the time to open a common webpage differs very very slightly with a 2MB speed broadband and a 8MB speed broadband), downloading music and free software, watch video clips on YouTube.com and having a video chat.

Now, the download speed of many broadband deals can reach up to 8Mb/s. That means, theoretically, you can download 1MegaByte from Internet per second (8Megabits equals to 1Megabytes). In practical, the speed won't reach that high, but sometime it's possible to reach 700-800 KB per second. Some deals have a speed of 16Mb. That's twice the speed of an 8Mb/s broadband. However, we have to say. If you don't download a lot, don't waste money on a faster broadband. For normal use, broadband with a speed of 8Mb/s is really enough. Trust me!
